Through the Locking Glass
Head south of the border today to spend a few days with the "Outlaws" in Lincolnshire.
Our usual route takes us down the M74, M6 to Junction 40 before crossing over to the East Side of the country, so one of the places we like to stop off at is The Rheged Centre in the lake district.
It's a cracking place to visit and today they had this exhibition on.... Showcasing various Cumbrian Artists work that were produced / inspired during the Covid 19 lockdown.
And as you can see there was various pieces on display with one of them being this Gorilla which is in the foreground.
The description of the artists work (David Cemmick) is as follows :
"Although he never had the honour of spending time with a gorilla group in its wild environment, he has always been fascinated by them. During his many visits to Zoos he sketched them, in captivity, for hours. This sculpture of a calmly introspective Silverback Gorilla emerged from those sketches during lockdown. The enforced restrictions on the human population caused by a world pandemic and the enforced existence of the captive gorillas in zoos struck a chord which he wanted to explore. Although he loves to see them it is always an experience tinged with sadness.."
... and I wonder as we have met with others during lockdown, there has been sadness as our normal human interaction with each other has been restricted too!!
