I couldn't help thinking as I saw this guy with his humungous bunch of flowers that he was either very in love or else very in trouble. And I was definitely leaning towards the latter, as his face certainly didn't seem lit up with the glow of unbridled passion and amór.

But then again, I'm a hoary, old cynic and maybe my thinking was just a reflection of my own guilt for not having indulged in any grand, romantic gesture for the day of Valentine!

That a day about love between couples should be a associated with a catholic saint, where abstinence from matters carnal and romantic is (supposed to be) the norm, says it all for me.

Anyway, I hope he got the ride and not the wooden spoon!
