The Osprey is a fish eating bird with a five foor wingspan.
There was no reord of an Osprey nest in England from 1830 until a pair
arrived at Bassenthwaite in the Lake District in 2001.
Now Ospreys also breed regularly at Foulshaw Moss on the north bank of the Kent Estuary opposite
Arnside. I am told there are other sites in South Lakeland.
Ospreys have now been seen at RSPB Leighton Moss in North Lancashire. A nesting platform has been created
as shown in my blip. Ifit is occupied it will provide splendid sightings from one of the hides. Fingers crossed.
My extra shows that we have had more rain. Very welcome.
