Life's Little Moments

Taking home the Gold

Young Hidalgo Hummie was a surprise medalist in the Interpretive Dance Nectaring Event.  He wasn't expected to medal at all so when he came into the arena today and aced every single move, the fans went wild.  You can see him here in his last station on the course, hovering a mere half-inch from the lobelia, wings at a perfect angle, and tiny feet dangling in exactly the right formation.  It was magic!  And it got him AOG Gold.  I'd like to say that his teammates rallied round him for congratulations, but - alas - that was not the case.  In fact, one team member had to be fined for chasing Hidalgo and two other members of Team Hummie, along with a hapless young titmouse, into the woods.  It really was Conduct Unbecoming!

Team Catbird surprised everyone when they came in third in the swimming event and second in Diving.  You can see Carmine Catbird HERE preparing for his dive   Had the Team just left it at that, they would have had an unblemished AOG record.  However, once all their events were over, their Captain was seen harassing Team Great Golden Digger, even going so far as to steal their "pet" katydid.  Well, that whole katydid things is another story for another day...  But it did result in a fine for Team Catbird.  At least they weren't stripped of their medal...which all has to do with the whole katydid debate.

Team Ant won Silver for their amazing team effort in moving a sunflower shell from one side of the Pavers Stadium to the other.  The Shell Relay is one of those events that no one likes to cover, understandably.

The junior members of Team Titmouse, not knowing that the Begging Event was over, dared the House Wren kids to a Beg-off and were soundly trounced by the five young wren members who are world class beggars (aided by the resonance created by the walls of their nest box.

This is the last full day of events, although there will be a few last minute events tomorrow in addition to the Closing Ceremonies.  Everyone here at the NJ AOG Village is on the edge of their seats waiting to see who will feature in the Closing Ceremonies.  Stay tuned...

Today's events can be seen by clicking on the aog2116 tag below.  All of yesterday's stories can be seen at #aog2115.  And I think you know what tomorrow's tag will be!

I scored a solid 8 hours last night even though it was nearly 1 when I finally got to sleep.  Feeling ever so much better today!

Plain, rich, and dark for me today.  And tomorrow I will be fasting prior to drinking the noxious beverage in preparation for Monday's colonoscopy.
