Today I was finally awarded a NZ Defence Service Medal. This is a new medal awarded to regular, reserve and to those that had no choice when military service was compulsory back in the day. To receive the Regular clasp you have to have served in the regular force for a period of 3 years or more.

Due to my exiting the Army last year my medal was lost.....When I re-enlisted, the medal office said they'd sent it to my previous commander who didn't know anything about it. Fortunately it turned up somewhere, somehow and finally got into my hands today. Now I can get all my medals mounted, hopefully in time for ANZAC day!
