Crash landing...
... should have gone to Specsavers... :-(
I apologise for no replies yesterday. My wife and I weren't thinking of going to the beach!
We are going through a bit of trauma re finding somewhere to live. At our age we should have been well settled in our home, but had to sell up last year to get away from an environment that was becoming more and more "awkward'.
We were lucky to have found somewhere to rent at very low rates whilst we waited for a new build to get built. However, searches came back showing land prone to subsidence and instability, so had to pull out.
All this time house prices going ballistic! And anything worth pursuing has 15 people going after it in a bidding war.
We could have found suitable properties over in Ireland to be close to our daughter but the financial implications and costs were horrendous.
So right now we have only one property in our price range (which happens to be within 20 miles of where we used to live) which ticks many boxes. It hasn't got a £60,000+ price hike like everywhere else, but does have a couple of not insignificant drawbacks. It's a..'if not this what else' situation.
We are going to go with this one and hope to keep ourselves physically mobile enough for as long as possible! And put a stop to endless clicking on Rightmove trying to find a house.
Looking back, we should have stayed where we were and put up with all the problems. At least we had a home we loved. Hindsight...!
Where we are now has really spoilt us re location. It's like living in a tree house! Totally surrounded by nature.
