Agapanthus

A day of downpours, drizzle and flashes of sunshine. I took this picture in one of those sunny moments first thing this morning.
We decided, notwithstanding the weather we would drive up to the Dales - thanks to blipper By cathy 1947 for the nudge - a good day to enjoy the constantly changing atmospherics - (not so good for my photography) also I was wanting to see the Buttertups-having driven past them previously but never stopped-we had a bit of a challenge finding them - but worth the effort. Seemingly named after they were used as a half way cool store by farmers rather than carrying their butter all the way from their farms in Swaledale to Hawes market and back
Thé ‘côté de Buttertups’ became ‘famous’ - maybe you’ve heard of it? - in 2014 when Yorkshire hosted the Grand Depart, the prelude to the Tour de France. There were plenty of cyclists in the Dales today - participating in the Étape du Dales - a 110 mile marathon. There was a feed station in Hawes where cyclists were being given cake and some wearing space blankets!
Hawes is such a pretty little place, I was very taken by the yarn bombing - donations to Hawes Christmas decorations - and here is Alice in Wonderland turning up again - she was at Harlow Carr last week, and RHS Bridgewater the week before. What is going on - this girl gets about! 2nd extra
Just caught up with the final day of the Olympic Games - I enjoyed them. Hats off to all the athletes and to all those behind the scenes - and to Tokyo - great job!
