Poppy Fields
We actually did leave home for a drive today to the poppy fields. I missed seeing the blooms this year as the restaurant was closed due to a staff Covid case. We decided to wait until the restaurant had reopened to have our annual plate of Nudeln (similar to gnocchi) drenched with melted butter, poppy seeds, rum and icing sugar. I also missed the fields of green which occurs after the petals have fallen from the seed pods. However, I was blown over by the poppy seed heads which are left in the fields to dry. I loved the colours and the dainty crowns. The 4th extra shows a capsule that has burst open so I suppose they will be ready to harvest soon.
