A big drill for a big hole
Our builder/electrician came this morning to drill the hole for the cooker hood vent. While he was here, he discovered that the wall brackets installed by the kitchen installer to support the breakfast bar were not secure, and that the screws for one of them had penetrated a buried electrical cable. To be fair, the electrical cable should not have been in that bit of wall - it was, we think, a piece of lazy and poor cabling by the company that installed our original kitchen back in 1987. I was totally unaware of it.
Our guy has now put the cabling right and will be back tomorrow to complete the replastering he had to do and, I think, to fit the brackets properly.
The work continues.
