PNW AOG Closing Ceremonies

It was a glorious day for the Pacific Northwest Arena's closing ceremonies and it seems all but a few athletes were in attendance, beginning with Team Squirrel's Louie, who appeared unable to part company with the snack bar.

Gloria and Team Canada Goose did a magnificent flyover but once again, didn't let anyone know when.  Nevertheless, they did follow the Tokyo example and dropped red, white and blue "tokens" over the crowd.  No one really examined them closely to see what they really were but the general opinion was that it was the thought that counts.

Team Hummie continued their aerial acrobatics feeder fighting, but we were told that it is now to be reported as "Artistic Combat".

Team Mule Deer showed up with a rather impressive demonstration of how to hide in tall grass.

And, of course, Team Beaver was present ferrying branches back and forth on the water venue to finish off their dam.  Team Catfish was not available to nor interested in judging anything the beavers did and made impolite comments and gestures from the water's edge.  Team Catfish is still recovering from their sad encounter with raccoons so they're just annoyed with everyone.

Team Mallard finally showed up with a short routine in the ladies' division which showcased their paddling skills.

Team Frog boycotted the closing ceremony because it was rumored that Team Heron was planning a group display and the frogs refused to be in the same arena with them.

Please check Extra for some additional photos of the competition.

This reporter hasn't had so much fun in a long time, despite some of the obvious challenges dealing with extremely excited and unpredictable athletes.  All in all, they were really quite delightful to follow.  Thanks to Deb for hosting the games and to the judges.  I'm looking forward to the winter AOG and hoping for some snow to add to the challenge.
