Home again.

A quieter day after the holidays. Stayed home. Tesco online delivery came first thing. Good set up. And we did some chores.

Today life involved grass for me and for our younger son. He played golf at Dumbarnie Links (excellent “new” course) - in my case I cut the grass. The preparation, seeding (1 July) and watering has paid off. It’s quite lush and thicker than before. A few bits are still bare, I’ll reseed those. I’m pleased; good result.

Car was unpacked and hoovered by my wife - sand and holiday debris in various nooks and crannies!

I spent some time considering the Scottish Government Coronavirus briefing from yesterday. We didn’t catch all of it in the car. The First Minister confirmed Scotland will go beyond Level 0 on 9 August 2021; all businesses will be able to re-open. Limits on numbers gathering will be by and large removed, and face coverings will still be required in many of the existing situations for some time to come. Hand hygiene and social distancing encouraged, but the latter no longer mandatory. More guidance and clarification will come forward over the week. She asked for continued caution and recognition that life isn’t as before. It’s not “Freedom Day.” The vaccination uptake has been high overall. The vaccine appears to be suppressing the virus variants; the case numbers and other other data and parameters monitored would’ve caused concern in Government previously, but a bit less so now. That’s pleasing. As usual the Opposition and media moaned.
