Esher Common
I woke up to rain - again - but thankfully the weather is meant to brighten from tomorrow onwards. As the rain stopped after breakfast I took Xena out for a walk on the common, where the heather is looking really good at the moment, I think better than in previous years. I was hoping to get this scene in bright sunshine but the sun only broke through as we finished our walk, and then it was sunny all day until later in the afternoon when the rain returned.
I went to the supermarket to get a few items that I want to take to Switzerland - oats porridge is one of them, I prefer the oats we get here which seems daft but we all have our foibles! I think oats is one of the items I can take now that we are subject to the EU food rules since Brexit - no meat and dairy but I think oats should be okay. I am taking dog food that is fish based as you cannot take any meat but fish seems to be okay, but who knows, the rules are so confusing and even our vet was not sure. It will either be okay or if not I will have a very ill dog if I have to suddenly change her dog food to a local brand (I use a British brand and they no longer export to the EU as it is too complicated for them, which is true of many British food manufacturers.) Dogs cannot suddenly change their diet, a new food has to be slowly introduced or else they get ill.
Tommy came home again last night, he was working (on his internship) from Inca's house last week while she was walking the Cotswold way with her mum, doing a section each day and coming home each evening - it is 102 miles and they plan to finish it this week.
