Still gardening
I dug up one square of potatoes this morning. I suppose there were about half a sack. Now D can plant some radishes and perhaps we will get some this time, who knows. It was recommended that we should plant individual seeds with adequate spacing.
This is the middle row which we are quite pleased with. Last year there was just a single row of potatoes here stuffed optimistically into a pre-existing furrow. It wasn't a waste of time at least. We managed to rotovate it all this spring (late) and construct these beds. Further down, out of sight, is yet another potato bed and a lot of tomatoes too. None of the tomatoes are red yet except for a few of the cocktail variety. It looks like we may be lucky and have a modest harvest of the Polish holy fruit, gherkins. The beans are coming along, while elsewhere they have been picked or are nearing the kitchen.
Nowik, the fat cat, went to the vet today. He had obviously been bitten but should be recovering already. We also obtained some pills for Pushkin, who is increasingly lame.
