Iceland day 5 - Whale watching

Today we took the group on a whale watching tour. We spotted dolphins and there also was a humpback whale. Every time the whale went for a deep dive, we got to see its tail. This shot is one of the first I took.

When we returned, we started our journey towards the inland gravel roads. That's why we have 4x4 vans. Before we got there, we made a stop near a tiny waterfall (first extra).

Driving on the gravel roads is quite challenging. Parts are quite good, but other parts have boulders sticking out or huge holes in them. It takes quite a bit of concentration and I was exhausted when we reached our destination for the day: the Kerlingarfjöll Mountain Resort.
 
Before we went there, we stopped at Hveravellir, another area of geothermal activity, including a tiny geyser (second extra).
