Feeding Butterfly
Still on the theme of flying things but moved away from feathers.
Went to Williamson Park in Lancaster and spent a happy couple of hours in the Butterfly House keeping warm. Surprisingly, considering the arctic temperatures outside, I had the place to myself.
Butterflies are extremely difficult to photograph and very colour sensitive. I was wearing a blue sweater under my coat but had to put my coat back on and hide it because the butterflies flew away long before I could get close enough to photograph them. So wearing a sweater and a coat in sub tropical temperatures I at least managed to get close enough to capture some decent images. The trick was to move very slowly and keep taking shots as I got ever closer since I did not know when they would fly away. This one was so intent of feeding (note the red tongue proboscis) that I could get the lens quite close.
