‘Only’ a Sparrow

Often overlooked as just common birds. House Sparrows, like so many others are less common than they were. This year, however, in my garden this past week there has been an explosion of fledglings! They were in the Buddleia and on the fence - Sprite was sniffing about under the Buddleia, and they were taking no notice of him at all - until he sneezed! At least 20 small brown bodies erupted into the air with chirps of alarm and flew off. (They soon came back though) Dad Sparrow seemed to be supervising from the Budddleia - see ‘extra’ - but most were young ones. The Starlings were temporarily absent - as often the case in the afternoon - so the smaller birds could get on the feeders uninterrupted. Great time wasters, but lovely to watch.
