New Zealand’s Nelson Lakes National Park marks the start of the Southern Alps mountain range which runs through the centre on of the South Island.

This alpine area is a little over an hours drive from where I live. Last weekend the weather was stormy with low snow falls in many parts of NZ. We thought it would have fallen to lake level here, but as you can see only the higher peeks have a light covering of the white stuff. 

This is a day late being uploaded and the weather was perfect, although a cool wind blew disturbing the surface of the lake.

Lake Rotoiti is one of the largest in the park. This view was taken from the West Arm - as shown on the Blipfoto map under the photo.
