Ely

At the third attempt, G and I met up with our great friend M. The two other dates had poor weather forecast, so having waited 18 months we decided to wait for a nice day and it was glorious. So wonderful to catch up with M, and to finally exchange xmas and birthday presents! A nice cuppa and cake at the Almonry, a river walk, a picnic and an ice cream, plus loads of chat. Wonderful.

Having commuted into Euston for many years, I was really interested to watch the latest Secrets of the Underground episode all about Euston (on Yesterday channel Mondays at 8pm or catch up on UKTV Play). I love finding out about all the history, extra tunnels and stations we don’t know about.

Day 513 / Day 24 of Step 4 of Roadmap Easing (for my record only)
The EU drugs regulator is looking into possible rare side effects from the Pfizer and Moderna jabs relating to the kidneys and an allergic skin reaction. 3 anti inflammatory drugs are to be tested in 52 countries in a WHO led trial aiming to reduce death in hospitalised Covid-19 patients. The TImes is reporting that Britain has ordered 35m more doses of the Pfizer jab, but that the cost has gone up by 20% - shocking profiteering in a pandemic. A JCVI member has said that 'the number of cases and the number of young people in the age group 16-17 that were getting seriously ill merited going forward with giving them just a first dose.' Police in Germany are investigating a Red Cross nurse who is suspected of injecting thousands of people with saline instead of a genuine Covid vaccine.
