Schools have undergone a pretty rigorous policy over here of installing artificial pitches. They are crap. Almost without exception. The only good thing about them is that Domes can be erected on them for winter football. Other than that, they are a heat-trapping source of pollution, and are responsible for the destruction of green space. Just because the plastic is painted green....
Anyway, to one side of the pitch, some 50 metres away, underneath the electricity pylons, is a most splendid patch of wildflowers. Somehow the council forgot to cut these down. They are an oasis of nature in the desert of the Anthropocene.
