I’m Moulting!
No need to be afraid, don’t close your eyes, or hide behind the couch, because this is not a scary story or a monster blip. I promise! You are looking at a bluejay that is moulting. It’s totally normal and occurs once per year. These beautiful birds lose all of the feathers on their heads and sometimes on the neck too. I think Nature was purposeful and kind in making this happen AFTER mating season (don’t you?), and not before. Otherwise, the bluejay would be no more, extinct, zilch, nada, lol! • We purposely did our grocery shopping today, and stocked up on bird seed from the local garden store. All in anticipation of the hot muggy air that’s creeping our way for tomorrow. Too bad it’s going to stick around for a few days. Other than garden chores in the morning, I doubt we’ll be spending much time outside • Another bountiful harvest day: cucumbers, yellow squash, zucchini, peppers, tomatoes and cucamelons!!
