Common Enchantments

Young buck

It was still a little dark out when I spotted this buck coming into the yard to see about something to eat.  The other deer were right behind him but in the woods at this time.  They all stayed around the yard for about 20 minutes.   We think that two of the babies we saw are newer than the previous babies as they have more spots while the others we see are losing their spots each time they visit.   I was actually able to stick my head out the door to get this photo but it was hand held with the 300mm lens so a little fuzzy.    We noticed his one horn seems to be at a strange angle compared to the other side.   This does happen.  Hoping we can see him further into the fall when he loses the velvet on those horns.

The composition prompt today was no foreground so I was really glad the deer came into the yard.     A photo of the fawns in the extras.   They do like to roam the yard and I get really anxious when they start going toward the road.     I was also impressed with our dog Gypsy as she laid outside on the porch and watched them the whole time they were here but never barked or chased.  She is such a good girl!
