Hoverfly

I'm no expert, but I'm guessing this is a hoverfly, judging by the way it seemed to hang stationary in the air at times.

It is another attempt at close-up photography of insects.  This is about as large as I can get the fly in the frame (even with a little cropping) so I either need a more specialist lens than my standard 105mm macro, or I could add extension tubes - but getting a sharp image with adequate depth of field would then be even more difficult.  At the moment I am just pleased to get the fly in shot and reasonably sharp.  Fortunately it was just sitting on the Montbretia cleaning itself, so it wasn't too difficult to take.
