Poltimore House
Members of the three camera clubs in north Devon, from Bideford, Barnstaple and Braunton, met up today for a wander around Poltimore House. It is a Grade 11 Country House - outside Exeter - in Devon. The Manor of Poltimore was from 13th C - 20th C the seat of the Bampfylde Family.
It has a variety of owners since 1920, including the NHS, a College and a nursing home, none successful and sadly after an arson attack in 1987 and theft and vandalism, the house is now dilapidated.
The house is slowly being renovated and we were allowed to go inside carefully, to photograph the various rooms. A lot of scaffolding holding the remaining roof up made photographing difficult!
