Cochranes

I had an assignment to photograph a couple of Ghost Signs in different parts of the City both showing signs of the former Cochranes Grocers. 

At one time they had over 100 shops in Glasgow and beyond.  And they were in competition with a number of other similar size independent neighbourhood Grocers.   However along came the huge supermarkets and the increase in car ownership and most of these small local Grocers found it hard to survive.
