Apfelkuchen
Half ten at night and we’re back out chilling on the terrace now that it’s cooled down. One of our neighbours along the way has a fire going on their terrace - I really hope they have a fire basket. And a fire extinguisher. There’s lightning lighting up the horizon away to the west but the thunder clouds seemed to be heading away from us earlier (too dark to tell now).
It wasn’t exactly ideal baking weather but I decided to use up some of the apple mountain that VeroS and Bea gave us the other day. So there’s an apfelkuchen sitting on the kitchen counter, minus a couple of slices that I had for my tea. Cake and beer, a marriage made in heaven. Speaking of which, the church bells have been giving it laldy today on the eve of Mariahimmelfahrt. Just building up for tomorrow though - there will be no long lie-ins in Bavaria!
