Road Trip

Quite the road trip today. We crossed the Lake District - the first time we have been for a long time, it’s just too busy these days - to Whitehaven, and then returned to base on the coastal route. I’ve never been to the Lakes in August, so don’t know how this “stay in the UK” year compares, but it all looked very busy.

We stopped near St Bees Head and had a short walk along the cliffs. It’s a lot quieter here, The red sandstone exposed on the cliffs is the typical building material used historically in parts of north Cumbria. We had views of the Dumfries and Galloway coast in Scotland, and of the Isle of Man. Snaefell looks a big hill.
