Big Mango

Look very closely. Somewhere in this picture there is a Mango...

Today we started our road trip proper. We put Snoop into travel mode (chucked all the bags off the front seats into the back) and set off North.

We didn't have too much of a plan today, and just followed the Bruce Highway until we found a sign for 'Dingo Beach'. In the hope that there might be real Dingo's, we detoured off down 30km of very narrow roads and multiple flood warning signs until we arrived at the beach.

It was lovely. Quiet, shady, with toilets, showers and public bbqs!

It even had a stinger net, so we stopped for a while for a swim and cool off.

Back on the road again, we found our way back to 'the Bruce' and headed for Bowen, stopping on the outskirts to admire their Big Mango.

My, how big it is.

After exploring all that Bowen had to offer (a hill with a cafe), we headed into town for a drink, and unexpectedly found ourselves on the set of 'Australia'. Or so we're told. You know that really long film about Australia? The one with three endings? One after each other?... No? Well you're the lucky one!

Bowen's 'local' was a hotel (one of the buildings in the film), and I made my self at home by sending my 'schooner' of beer flying...
