Full on
Another busy day! After breakfast and showers we headed down to town and H&AR did a tour of the underground vaults and streets whilst Mt, Mx and I headed to the museum, but fell foul of the booking ahead requirement, so went down to the Grassmarket and bought ice creams then sat on the grass by the castle to eat them. Mx chatters non stop when you’re with him, about everything and nothing (although he gets upset if you imply he’s telling ‘stories’ ….swearing everything is all true!). We continued on to the book festival in its new home which seems to be working well and he played in the children’s area then we bought some books and headed back to meet H&AR and hear all about the skeletons and stories of gore and history they’d learned about. Home via the exhibitions of jewellery and textiles at the Dovecot gallery and made some lunch before having a bit of a quiet time.
H managed to get herself an appointment for a hair cut so Mt and I took the little ones and Higgs for a walk around Holyrood Park, picking seed heads to make maracas, blowing the seeds around from thistles and discussing volcanoes and lava most of the way. Also fed the swans (AR got bitten by one!) and bought extortionately priced ice creams. Home…nearly 17000 steps today!
Sorted their supper and into bed early…Mx fades very fast when he’s tired…and I read AR the first chapter of Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator. She has the whole set of Roald Dahl’s books and is working through them quickly.
We were all a bit whacked so had a Thai takeaway and watched a daft film before an early night….
