A cooler moment
Every few days or so, we get a brief respite from the insane summer Mississippi heat. It is usually connected to an upcoming, or recently passed storm, and today was no exception. A while after I took this photo, a massive thunderstorm rolled over us, leaving the hammock soaked (we forgot to bring it inside).
LM had a grand day, first a planning meeting with boy scouts, then an afternoon of board games with a couple of friendly nerds. I am ecstatic he is managing to "have a life" during the pandemic. We are supremely lucky he is old enough to be vaccinated, and our school district requires students to wear masks. So far, while a bunch of students tested positive right after the year started and had to quarantine, there were no outbreaks in schools. I am grateful for sticking to science, and not politics, when crafting our district's pandemic policies.
