West Dean

We took a visit to West Dean Gardens today with my sister and family who have been staying with us for the weekend. It’s a place I have long wanted to visit, particularly to see the walled garden and many Victorian glasshouses.

It didn’t disappoint. It was a fascinating visit with so much to see and enjoy - the fruit, veg and flowers in the walled garden, the Victorian garden infrastructure, the woodland paths and pastoral views across the downs. Merlin came too and seemed to have a good day being in the fresh air and in the midst of his ‘pack’.

West Dean is well know for its arts and craft college. This glass engraving was in one of the flint lined garden gazebos. An art class was taking place in The Orangery, it looked such a peaceful and inspiring space to be creative.
