Previous Monastery

Today I went on a guided tour on estate Doornburgh. It consists of a 17th century mansion, a park with an old ice cellar and a museum / restaurant that used to be a monastery.

The Dutch Canonesses Regular of the Holy Sepulchre lived on an estate in the East of the Netherlands. During and after the war they moved from place to place until the arrived at the 17th century mansion in 1957 and started building a new monastery. They moved in in 1966. Only one or two of the Canonesses are still alive, so they sold the estate.

The former monastery now holds a museum and a restaurant. Today I was on a guided tour through the monastery and the mansion (see extra).
