Sweet Jasmine

There are lots of gardens and public areas in Maleny with Jasmine in bloom at this time of year. On a misty, damp day such as this the scent of their thousands of blooms hangs in the air. I wish I could blip the scent too!

Today, Australia's Prime Minister made a formal apology to the hundreds of thousands of Australians affected by past forced adoption practices (Australia had followed Britain's lead in the shocking treatment of young, unmarried pregnant women from the 50s to the 70s). A similar apology is well overdue for those affected in Britain too.

In some countries, the Jasmine flower symbolises 'hope'. Somehow, this meaning seems especially appropriate today.
