Fine Art

Today's the day ...................... for pictures in an exhibition

The annual exhibition of The Fine Art Society  is on at present in Kirkcudbright until 29th August.  On display are works by some of the Glasgow Boys alongside pictures by 19th and 20th century artists who lived and worked in Galloway.

The paintings are all for sale but, as you might imagine, if you want to buy one, you really would need quite a bit of spare cash.  Here are just a few of them and for example, if you fancied the one in the middle (Pears, 1970 by Jack Knox RSA RSW) it would set you back a little under £7,000.  The lovely little sketch bottom right (Bullock Cart, c1949 by Joan Eardley RSA) would be slightly more at £7,500.

But the one I quite fancied was the oil painting in extras (Across the Dee from Kirkcudbright by Robert Burns ARSA) - a snip at £4,800 ....................
