Day of content

So one of the many pools is an Olympic pool, complete with lanes and starter blocks. We went for a goodly explore this morning, stopping off to swim here, go on the water slide, waft around the lazy river, swim in the sea. Then returned to our rightful Olympic place for a couple of hours of pure joy. We practiced getting out without the ladders (a skill you have to re- learn in your more advanced years), did diving, swam lengths, failed at back dives, relearnt tumble turns (much easier with your eyes open as it turns out). We are saving diving from the blocks for another day, I have to work out how to comfortably get up onto them first.

Then lunch and a retreat to sun beds under the trees with books for a snooze. The boys discovered the arcade and pool table, then we played volleyball in the pools. And started synchronised swimming practice.

And then, right at the very late end of the day, we got a little lost coming back to our homes and stumbled upon a whole new place with about 15 new swimming pools around a big bar. No idea it what’s ever there, no idea if we will find it again, made us laugh a lot.

And my gardening leave has officially ended today, I am now completely unemployed until 1st October. Feels totally fine.

What a smashing day.
