Out of Character

Edinburgh is like an elderly genteel lady who has had to prostitute herself to afford to live.

On one hand we have ancient closes and classical buildings which have stood for centuries under the protection of a foreboding castle on an unassailable grey rock and on the other hand we have a yearly influx of modern garish tents and temporary flimsy accommodation to house the Edinburgh Fringe and it’s money spinning events. They don’t sit well, side by side.
