THE WORLD'S OLDEST YEW TREE
The Tuesday Bikers met up this morning and headed north through Callander, alongside Loch Lubnaig, Killin, Loch Tay, and stopped here at Fortingall to explore the world's oldest yew tree. It is believed to be 5000 years old and was 56 feet in girth back in 1769. Unfortunately, souvenir hunters removed large sections and children lit fires inside its hollow trunk. Eventually this wall had to be built to stop the tree disappearing altogether.
From here, we headed into Kenmore for lunch, then enjoyed some more beautiful scenery down through the Sma' Glen. Many thanks to Ronnie for leading a great day out on the bikes!
