Escaped to RSPB Burton Mere Wetlands

We escaped from yet another day under grey skies or in this case in the clouds.

It was very wet on the drive west until around Warrington.

It was still grey when we arrived and a bit windy bit it improved and we enjoyed a slow and steady visit to all corners of the Reserve.

The new (to us at least) Inner Marsh Farm hide was good in the afternoon when the sun shone for a few minutes. Photos are from there,

Extra photo with Egrets and Lapwings.

Arriving home or cloud base as it could be called today proved it was a great decision.

I also got to drive on a road I have never been on the A555 Hazel Grove to Manchester Airport to join the M56 avoiding the busy M60 South section but just in time for the miles of roadworks and lane closures till Lymm.  I am out of practice on busy motorways but did OK.
