Sally Mair - Loving life

Limelight

This is the hydrangea Limelight which I rescued from Homebase last year. Admittedly it is in a pot but it's looking really healthy. The colour isn't as green as last year, I guess there must have been some enhancer in the fertiliser to help it. It looks good though and I'm very happy with it.
Today was another good day of getting rid of all the stuff I'd sorted for charity shops! I'd accumulated lots of bags but shops will only take 2 per day from donors so I filled the car up a couple of times and did some circuits. I phoned up the hospice shop in Leith Walk and offered them lots of old linen which they were very pleased about. I had table cloths in double damask, lots of lace work, hand done, and bedlinen still in its wrappings which had been given to my grandparents as wedding presents. I cursed the tram works though as I tried to get parked near enough to carry the heavy bags. Such a joy to have offloaded it at last though.
Colin has gone up to spend some time with his mum and give his sister a break so I'm home alone. I have plans to do more clearing, but also to rest as I am very tired. It's nice to have no responsibilities for a few days. I've cried off my meeting in Norwich next month, so that's another decision made.
I met a friend for coffee this afternoon in the garden of the Olde Inn in D'mains. It has a huge beer garden with the tables all well spaced out, lovely to sit in the sunshine.
I played bridge this evening, that too was a pleasure.
Tomorrow is a mixed day, lots of joy and excitement for Isobel and Eilidh as school starts. Isobel is in school tomorrow along with half of her class, they are off on Thursday when the other half are in, then both halves of the class are in on Friday. Then that's it, she's in school. How time has flown. Eilidh moves into P4 tomorrow, out of infants and into the juniors. I do hope they have a good year. I'm looking forward to seeing the 'start of year' photo that Kathryn takes every year.
Keep safe everyone I realise today just how much I really need to count my blessings. My friend is in hospital tonight and first on the list for major surgery tomorrow morning. She's in my prayers tonight especially.
