Start Bay
A view of the large bay from Start Point, with Slapton Sands near the far end. This was the area used for Exercise Tiger in 1943 to rehearse for the amphibious landings in Normandy in June 1944 – D-Day. It was where 749 US serviceman died through various problems and cockups. Much was learned from the mistakes.
And a Great Green Bush Cricket is in the Extra, perched on the wall of the road to the lighthouse at Start Point. I've never seen such a large cricket, but it can grow to 54mm long.
