Truly Medieval

Another walk to keep the pace up on the walking training. We started at Prees railway station in Shropshire.  We did quite a bit of minor road walking which is heavy going on your feet! We also had to do a bit of fighting the vegetation on little used paths.

But there were some good sections. We walked a little into Whixall Moss, where I'd wanted to go to see the insect life. It was a little dull and cool for that though.

There were also sections along the Llangollen and Ellesmere Canals. We also walked along a disused length of the Prees branch of the Ellesmere Canal which is now a Shropshire Wildlife Trust nature reserve.

On a section where we walked past St Mary's Church in Edstaston. The church dates back to the late 12th century and is a Grade 1 listed building. Three doorways still retain Norman features.

I don't think we'll be repeating the exact walk as there was too much road walking, but we did clock up just shy of 11 miles. That helps with the training!
