Dahlias

Today was Leevi's name day and it was great that he paid a visit in the evening. I baked pulla to celebrate him. 

My lovely in-laws have amazing dahlia garden: they bought us flowers, fresh baked rolls, gooseberries and apples.

The dahlia flower is named after Swedish botanist Anders Dahl (1751-1789). Dahlias are octoploids, they have eight sets of homologous chromosomes, whereas most plants have only two.
