The dropped stitch

MV Hamnavoe

Another long but enjoyable day working in Stromness.

As I caught a glimpse of the Hamnavoe leaving this afternoon it reminded me of Lady Findhorn's holiday diary entries on Blip. I understand now, how the comings and going of this ferry become a punctuation in your day. It really feels so close. The sound of the engines and the public information announcements for the passengers can clearly be heard as you walk along the street.

I feel befuddled by tiny alleyways; house numbers which follow one after the other and then mysteriously skip one or two; houses behind houses behind houses; houses that seems to have no access to their front door.

It will be another evening doing homework ready for the hunt for new addresses tomorrow.
