For our walk today we decided to go to Woodland Hills Preserve ... a short drive from home.  We went before lunch so as to hopefully beat the afternoon heat.  We packed a lunch to eat after our walk.

We don't come to this preserve very often as we don't see all that much wildlife.  I know ... our walk should be about getting exercise not getting wildlife photos!! 

Right down the road from the preserve is this lovely old (built in 1880) one-room schoolhouse.  It was here that we found our first ever (and only) Hickory-horned devil caterpillar two years ago.  I was on the lookout for another sighting of this fascinating cat as I would love to see one again.  But it was not to be today .... that was probably a once in a lifetime find.  But a girl can dream, can't she!?!
