Nodes
Yesterday I discovered that we had forgotten to include five municipalities in our route. In order to visit it, we had to improvise and compose a route via the cycle route network.
In the Netherlands, Belgium and the border area in Germany, exist a bicycle junction network. This is a network of different cycling routes that are connected to each other via the so-called nodes (usually intersections of bicycle paths). There is an overview map at every node. It's very simple. Each node is numbered and you can use those numbers to create a route. Except! When a sign is missing. If that is the case, you are making unnecessary kilometers.
Bert had written down all the nodes. Yet we had to consult the signposts very often. This took a lot of time. It was very disappointing to drive a route this way. We have become very used to navigation.
Finally we ended up in Amstelveen. Tomorrow a quiet day.
