Noises from the SW Front

Cimarron Canyon

Finally a part of New Mexico that isn’t a s**thole. Driving down through the Rockies toward Taos (all of this is stunning) we turned into this canyon. 37,000 acres were burned in June, 2018. Now the blackened skeletons of trees are surrounded by a sea of Black-eyed Susans and other new growth. It’s amazing that three years on you can still smell the burnt wood. Writing this one day on. We cut short our visit to Santa Fe because home is the next stop and, after six weeks of strange beds, being home a day early should be magic.
