Abstract Mushroom
I do like the intricacy of the gills on mushrooms, even if this bad boy was cheeky enough to be growing in my lawn! I did about half an hour of gardening before it started raining again, so back to some paperwork. In Lockdown 3 I was expecting to get up to date with all my admin, but the combined effect of lockdowns got to me and I couldn't face doing anything on the pc except blip and Zoom on the ipad. There's a lot to catch up on!
I'm still quite angry at the abandonment of Afghanistan by the coalition forces and particularly the impact on women. Shocking that Biden did it nearly 20 years on from the anniversary of 9/11. Raab should resign for staying on holiday whilst things fell apart. Good to hear that charitable donations in the UK are spiking.
Day 521 / Day 32 of Step 4 of Roadmap Easing (for my record only)
The Health Secretary says he's 'confident' booster jabs will begin in Sept. Estimated levels of antibodies in Eng are now 94.2% per the ONS and over 90% in all home nations, although clearly this doesn't mean full protection given that 1 in 75 in the UK has the virus at the moment. A Professor on Nervtag has referred to the level of cases and deaths at this time of year as 'very worrying.' A study has found that the effectiveness of the Pfizer jab declines faster than the AZ jab, although it starts at a higher level. It is unknown if this decline will continue. Its been confirmed by scientists at Oxford Uni that the double jabbed can still get Covid with levels of virus as high as the unvaccinated, and can therefore still pass it on. Over 125k 16 & 17 year olds have been vaccinated in the last two weeks. The first Covid case has been identified in the Tokyo Paralympic Village which starts soon. Toyota is cutting global production by 40% due to the shortage of microchips due to Covid impacts (greater demand in other items such as pcs and supply issues) - joining VW, GM, Ford, Nissan, Daimler, BMW and Renault.
