Powderham Castle

We enjoyed a family outing with Chris, Kate, Joel & Sophie to Powderham Castle near Dawlish today. Tess & I visited in April for a walk around the grounds but the castle itself wasn’t open then. 

Today we all enjoyed a tour of the Castle which has been home to the Earl of Devon since the 14th Century. The rooms themselves are very grand, particularly downstairs, and they are also currently housing an exhibition called Fabulous Creatures which features very striking artwork by two artists that had us all engrossed.

After the castle we had a picnic lunch, a walk to the Belvedere with its views across the Exe estuary and lots of time in the petting zoo in the Walled Garden.

With all our visitors and visiting I’m afraid I’m way behind with visiting journals!
