Out out!

I was surprised not to be too weary after the walk yesterday. I made a lasagne with the mushrooms we found yesterday plus some kale from the garden. I put some cream cheese in the chopped kale so hope it will be ok for tomorrow. Also I made a date cake.

The big event was meeting Toby who is coming to help with the garden. Mr C had admitted help in the garden might be welcome so after a lot of setbacks I found someone. We’ll see how it goes. When we left for our evening in town he had stared on the rockery which is not the priority we suggested he start with.

We had arranged to take the daughters out for a meal to celebrate #3’s recent birthday. She likes The Patricia so we went there. They explained that since Covid they only did a set menu to avoid waste. The staff all wore masks and though the room wasn’t big, the tables were well-spaced. It was £59 a head, was absolutely delicious and worth every £ for the 6 small courses.

Mussel Juice, Sorrel and Jalapeño

7 year aged Carnaroli Risotto, Truffle and Culatelli do Zibello

Orkney Scallop Crudo, tomato and fermented pepper juice

Grilled Cornish Cod, Sudachi Pinzu and Iberico ham fat

Toast chicken, Coco do Paimpol, Agretti and Vin Jaune

White miso ice cream with raspberries and verjus

Reading that it does sound horribly pretentious but it was really tasty and very different. Not to mention such a treat. And great to have the daughters on their own for a good catch up.

The blip is the G&T daughter gave us before we went out.
