Masks and social distancing
A quiet day. Delighted that daughter C and her boys have all tested negative for Covid in the first test. They need to have two more clear tests, but the probability is now greater that they were not exposed to the Covid virus. The number of new cases is growing, but at a significantly slower rate than was feared. All New Zealand will join Auckland in remaining at Level 4 lockdown until at least next Tuesday.
I am aware that ill-informed comments have been made by some of those who fancy themselves as opinion leaders. Such as that NZ has gone into lockdown because of one case. And therefore we are over reacting. As expected the first identified case has the Delta variant, and so do all the positive cases identified in the subsequent couple of days. And there is a probable link to a man from quarantine who had to be hospitalised, meaning that the first identified community case may NOT be the first but second or even third step from the source. Therefore what seemed to those who raise their voice without knowledge to be just a single case, is actually a situation of serious risk to the health and life of many other people UNLESS we control it as we did 16 months ago.
These birds were showing humans how to behave when outside home.
