Taster

Another fantastically busy day with meetings on everything from options for catering outlets to racial casting decisions in opera to funding for a new research centre. Whacked out by this week’s full on return to work!
In the evening went to see Dido's Ghost in a huge tent (extra) at Edinburgh Academy junior school…absolutely loved it and the venue was spectacular, looking ever more dramatic in the changing light. This year only going to 3 or 4 festival events all month seems so odd, just a taster of what it should be like, but a very delicious one. I’m always amazed by Purcell's Dido and Aeneas opera…I can remember and almost feel every word and note of it from being in the chorus at a school performance…and this production added to it by a new wraparound story and score, and an amazing blend of original baroque instruments and electric guitar and modern percussion. Fabulous and complex…would love to go again
